Friends
The Friends feature lets you connect with other solyto users and share calendars with them.
How it works
Section titled “How it works”Friends is a mutual connection system. Both users must agree to the connection before any sharing takes place. You control who you connect with and what you share.
Sending a friend request
Section titled “Sending a friend request”- Go to Settings → Friends or the Friends section
- Search for the person by their email address
- Click Send Request
The other user receives a notification and can accept or reject the request.
Managing requests
Section titled “Managing requests”- Incoming requests — view pending requests and accept or reject them
- Outgoing requests — see requests you’ve sent that haven’t been answered yet
- Cancel — you can cancel a sent request at any time before it’s accepted
Friends list
Section titled “Friends list”Your friends list shows all accepted connections. From here you can:
- View a friend’s profile
- Remove a friend (this also removes any calendar sharing between you)
- Manage calendar sharing
Calendar sharing
Section titled “Calendar sharing”Once connected, you can share Calendars with friends:
- Open Calendar settings
- Select a calendar to share
- Choose which friends to share it with
- Set permissions (view-only or view-and-edit)
Shared calendars appear in your friend’s calendar view alongside their own. Changes sync in real time.
Only the calendars you explicitly share are visible to your friends. Everything else remains private.
Privacy
Section titled “Privacy”- Your data is never visible to friends unless you explicitly share it
- Shared calendars can be revoked at any time
- Removing a friend removes all sharing between you
- Friend connections are private — your friends list is not visible to other users
Self-hosting note
Section titled “Self-hosting note”Friends works across accounts on the same solyto instance. If you self-host, users on your instance can connect with each other. Cross-instance friends are not supported.
