Plant Library

The Plant Library is where you catalogue your houseplants, garden plants, and outdoor plants. Track what you have, where it is, and how to care for it — all in one place.

Add plants manually. Fill in the name, location, and care details. Upload a photo so you can see how each plant looked when you added it.

Each plant entry includes:

FieldDescription
nameCommon name of the plant (optional)
latin_nameScientific / botanical name (optional)
locationIndoor, outdoor, or both
sunlightFull sun, partial sun, indirect, or shade
current_sizeCurrent size of the plant
max_sizeExpected maximum size at maturity
acquired_atDate you acquired the plant
winter_hardyWhether the plant can survive winter outdoors
instructionsWatering, fertilizing, pruning instructions
coverUpload a photo of the plant
linkURL to a reference page about the plant

Upload photos of your plants directly. Cover images help you visually identify each plant and track how it changes over time. Unlike other libraries that fetch art automatically, plant photos are uploaded by you.

Use the instructions field to note watering frequency, fertilizing schedule, pruning needs, and any other care details. This is a free-text field — write whatever makes sense for each plant.

Common information to track:

  • Watering frequency (e.g., “every 3 days in summer, weekly in winter”)
  • Fertilizer type and schedule
  • Pruning instructions
  • Soil preferences
  • Humidity requirements

Browse your plants in List or Cards views. Filter by location (indoor/outdoor/both) or Unidentified — plants with no name and no latin name. Search by name.
